EarthBound

Welcome to the EarthBound section. EarthBound is/was an amazin' SNES RPG. Unlike all other RPGs in 1995, EB was set in modern times and featured a one-of-a-kind humor and plot; you were a 13-year-old boy from Onett saving the Earth from an intergalactic terrorist named Giygas. A first-play favorite for thousands, and Alex and Sam's favorite game ever.

Little did us pathetic American boys know, there was an "EarthBound" game that had come out years before on the NES in Japan, but never in America. This game was called Mother (EarthBound was Mother 2 in Japan). The star of this one was Ninten, a boy from Podunk who had to thwart the evil alien villain, Giegue. To make a long story short, a single translated copy of this game pak made its way to America. Of course, the guy who's hands it fell into IMMEDIATELY made it into a ROM for all American EBounders to share and love. The game was a success, with an estimated 26,000 downloads. Years later, a big group of EBounders ran a frail petition to put Mother on Game Boy Color, but this failed miserably. Nonetheless, "EarthBound Zero" rocks!

A dim flash of light flickered up in 1997, when word of a Mother 3 for the N64 had arisen. Dubbed EarthBound 64 by Americans, the screenshots from this baby poured in by the gallon every 6 months or so. Tantalizing EarthBound-freaks internationally, the supposed US release date was "Early 1998", what seemed like such a long time back then; about a year! But sadly, when the beginning of 1998 arrived, no word of Mother 3. This same pattern of delays and postponing continued for over 2 more years, until finally, Shigesato Itoi (grandmaster of EarthBound) decided to cancel production on this near-complete masterpiece. Jerk. :-D

And so, we here at N-GEB (EB standing for "EarthBound") would like to hold a shrine to, as well as have fun with, this legacy of video gaming greatness that is EarthBound! ENJOY!!!
